Canon Ixus 1000 HS is the World's Slimmest 10x Zoom with Full HD Movie Recording Camera.
This is probably a good camera to get if you want the big zoom minus carrying a bulky camera.
A good camera for travelling due to the big zoom. A big headache when taking pictures when travelling is always the zoom. It's always nice to have a big zoom camera to get those shots of buildings & landmarks that are far away (trust me, I've been there & done that).
I think what is nice is the fact that it has Full HD video recording as well. So you can playback all the movies recorded on your HD TV. :)
10.0 Mega Pixels so you can easily print up to poster size of your photo. You might think that 10.0 MP is low, since you can easily find 14 MP cameras. But do we really need 14MP? Actual fact: NO! Misconception: Higher the Mega Pixels, Clearer the Photos. Absolutely, WRONG. Higher Mega Pixels just means that you can print bigger sizes of the pictures without being pixelated. But comparing a 5MP camera, 10MP camera and 18MP camera when you are printing only 4R = No visible differences in clarity. All looks the same.
However, I was quite disappointed to learn that it has no wide angle, which is very common in cameras now. Nonetheless, it's a good camera to buy considering it's size and zoom :)
I would think that other competitors to this camera would be the Panasonic TZ10, which is a 12MP, 12x Zoom camera with GPS.
